Ecuador is the origin of the Panama hat, which considers it a national treasure and where artisanal weaving techniques have been passed down through generations for hundreds of years.

How does one recognize a genuine Panama hat? The crown of a real, hand-crafted Panama hat has a rose with straw radiating outward (as does the NicoBlu Panama Straw Hat). This is a sign that the hat was individually plaited by hand. Faux Panama hats do not have this rosette, as these are made from prefabricated sheets of machine woven straw.
