We Say

Takazawa Candle is one of the oldest Japanese candle companies that produces Warosoku derived from plant-based materials in a variety of interesting shapes. The TOHAKU candle is recognisable by its distinctive pine shape, which is thicker in the middle. It owes its natural grey-light brown colouring to its main ingredient, sumac tree wax. Each of the six Small TOHAKU candles burns for 80 minutes, making them an ideal accompaniment for everything from meditation and yoga to dinner parties and quiet nights at home.

Selector's Notes

All of Takazawa’s Japanese candles are handmade using time-honoured techniques. Their designs are inspired by the landscapes of Nanao, the company’s native city.
