A substantial and beautifully designed Grundig KS-735 stereo console — a flagship piece of German MCM electronics cabinetry combining a multiband radio receiver, integrated turntable, and stereo amplifier in one elegant wood cabinet.
Grundig was West Germany's dominant consumer electronics manufacturer from the late 1940s through the 1970s, and their stereo consoles represent some of the finest examples of form-meets-function in postwar European design. The KS-735 — a top-tier console model — was designed to serve as both a serious hi-fi system and a piece of living room furniture, with a wood cabinet of genuine quality housing a full-featured electronics suite. German radiograms and stereo consoles of this type are now earnestly collected both for their audio capabilities and their design presence; they appear regularly on 1stDibs, Chairish, and at European MCM dealers priced $800–$3,500+.
The console includes an integrated multiband radio (AM/FM/shortwave) and a built-in turntable — note: the center spindle from the turntable is missing and would need replacement before the turntable is operational. This is a common and typically inexpensive repair (replacement spindles are available). The radio and amplifier functions should be tested independently.
A rare opportunity to acquire a named German MCM stereo console of this scale. Spindle replacement is a straightforward repair. Paul to test radio/amp functions before listing active.
