Porcelain mug finished with a mottled brown glaze that varies slightly in depth and tone. Each mug will have its own mix of lighter and darker areas making every piece one-of-a-kind. Each pattern is slightly different and unique due to being carved by hand. A simple strong shape designed for everyday use.

PĀTIKI MUGS
Pātiki design represents the Pātiki or flounder. It is a symbol of generosity, hospitality and abundance. This pattern is designed to represent tukutuku stitch or hand embroidery, both skills taught to me by my Nan and Grandmother. This pattern reminds me of home, whānau and protection. Originally designed as an embroidery pattern for oracle collection garments before being adapted to fit on the new mug shape.
The pattern is applied with slip free form onto the surface of the clay and are handmade by Sarah Wigley in her Te Whanganui-a-Tara studio. Each mug will be slightly different, especially in the layout of the pattern.
Mugs are handmade and each uniquely different. Photos aim to show all glaze and design finishes as accurately as possible.
