R71 Ischialgin by Dr. Reckeweg is a homeopathic remedy formulated to address sciatica pain and related nerve symptoms in the legs. It is designed to help with nerve root pain, whether from disc prolapse or other causes of sciatic nerve irritation.

Used for:

• Sciatica pain and sciatica resulting from prolapse of vertebral discs
• Paraesthesias and formication sensations in the legs
• Nerve root pain with cramping or drawing sensations along the sciatic nerve

Key Ingredients

• Aconitum: helps address formications and leg pains, particularly paraesthesias that worsen at night from exposure to dry cold air
• Arsenicum album: targets burning pain sensations that are often worse at midnight and tend to improve with warm applications
• Colocynthis: addresses violent sciatic nerve pain aggravated by movement, cold or touch, with cramping and drawing sensations
• Gnaphalium polycephalum: supports relief from nerve root pain accompanied by formications, typically improving when sitting
• Magnesium phosphoricum: helps ease nocturnal pain that responds well to warmth and pressure

Directions for Use

• In acute cases, give 8 to 10 drops in water every 15 to 30 minutes initially
• As improvement occurs, reduce to 10 to 15 drops every 1 to 2 hours

Remarks

• For prolapse of vertebral discs or spinal osteoarthritis, additionally give R11 at 10 to 15 drops, 3 to 4 times daily
• If sciatica develops after getting wet, additionally give 10 to 15 drops of R11, 3 times daily
• When diabetes mellitus is present, consult R40
• For intercostal neuralgia, consult R69
• If prostate gland hypertrophy is present, R25 may be given alongside R71 as needed
• For peripheral vascular disorders together with acroparasthesia, consult R63
• In trigeminal and facial neuralgias, consult R70
• For topical application, use Lumbagin R61 rheumatic ointment or Atomare-Beckeron R30 as necessary
