Details: This gorgeous statement ring holds a vibrant, orange-hued carnelian finely carved with an intaglio of Demeter, the Greek goddess of harvest and fertility. She stands leaning back on an overflowing cornucopia, holding a branch of pomegranates. She looks off wistfully, missing her daughter Persephone who married Hades and lives in the underworld for half the year.
The ring's face although larger in scale is set to sit low on the hand. The stone is framed in a delicate milgrain detailed bezel, set off on each side with a simple, neo-classic tapered shoulders. This is quite a fashionable and elegant piece.
Measurements: The ring size is 8. The carnelian is 1" tall by .7" wide and stands .2" off the finger
Origin: English, c.1880's.
Condition: This lovely ring has some age appropriate wear on the stone but it's in good antique condition.
