1. Prolene Windows - BY FAR the most common type of handheld XRF window. If your windows feel as thin as kitchen plastic wrap, then you have Prolene windows! (and no, kitchen plastic wrap will not work) Prolene windows allow for light element analysis and are typical in the Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) models including the Niton XL2 950 and Niton XL2 980. Still, you may have a custom handheld XRF built for your application. If so, check to see which windows came with your analyzer and use of those. 2. Polypropylene Windows - These polypropylene windows are X-Ray Grade, 1 mil thick, polypropylene thin film with low impurities. While they do offer more protection than their Prolene counterparts, they do not allow for light element analysis. Polypropylene windows go with all Pin Diode handheld XRFs which do not see light elements based on their design. (Part Number 187-1555)
   
   
3. Kapton Windows - These Kapton windows are an amber colored polymer window measuring 1 mil thick. They are the strongest of the three window types but only work with a limited selection of analyzers, specifically the Niton XL3P models. (Part Number 187-1557)
