ALSAN FLOOR EP 101 is a two-component, 100% solids epoxy primer designed for use as the initial coat in various ALSAN polyurethane and epoxy flooring systems. It enhances adhesion to concrete and plywood substrates and can also function as a vapour barrier when applied at a minimum thickness of 0.25 mm (10 mils). Additionally, it can be used for minor substrate repairs and crack filling when combined with silica sand or ALSAN TF 801 thickening agent.

ALSAN FLOOR EP 101 is typically used as a primer in conjunction with other ALSAN systems such as ALSAN TRAFIK HP or ALSAN RS waterproofing membranes. For crack repairs and surface levelling, it can be mixed with silica sand (No. 40 or 50) or thickened with ALSAN TF 801. For larger concrete repairs or upstand preparation, ALSAN FLOOR EP 041 is recommended. These materials work together as a system to ensure proper adhesion, surface preparation, and waterproofing performance.

This primer is suitable for use on interior concrete surfaces such as floors, underground parking garages, and multi-level parking structures. It may also be used on exterior suspended concrete balconies, provided it is subsequently covered with a compatible ALSAN waterproofing layer. ALSAN FLOOR EP 101 is also approved for use on indoor plywood in agricultural systems.

- Mixing: Mix Part A and Part B separately for 2–3 minutes, then combine and mix for another 2–3 minutes until homogeneous. Immediately pour the mixture onto the substrate to avoid excessive heat buildup from the exothermic reaction.

- Application Methods: Apply using a roller or flat squeegee. For repairs, apply a base layer of resin followed by a resin-sand mixture (1:2 by volume) while the base is still wet. For crack filling, add ALSAN TF 801 after mixing Parts A and B.

- Pot Life: 20 minutes at 22 °C (72 °F)

- Curing Time: Dry to the touch in 3 hours at 22 °C (72 °F)

- Maximum Recoat Window: 72 hours

- Application Temperature: Minimum 10 °C (50 °F) for both ambient and substrate temperatures during application and curing

- Coverage:

- At 0.13–0.20 mm (5–8 mils): 104–148 m² (1120–1600 ft²) per 18.9 L kit

- At 0.25 mm (10 mils): 74 m² (800 ft²) per 18.9 L kit

- Thickness Limits for Repairs:

- Maximum depth per layer: 12 mm (1/2 in)

- No limit on number of layers, but each must cure before the next is applied

- No area limit for repairs under 12 mm depth

- ALSAN FLOOR EP 101 must be covered with a compatible ALSAN waterproofing layer (e.g., ALSAN TRAFIK HP or ALSAN RS) when used on exterior surfaces.

- Concrete substrates must be fully cured (minimum 28 days) and have a compressive strength of at least 24 MPa (3500 psi).

- Moisture content of concrete must be ≤ 4% as per ASTM F2659.

- Surface profile should be ICRI CSP 3 or 4, typically achieved by shot blasting.

- The product is not UV stable and must be protected from UV exposure in exterior applications.

- VOC content is low at 19 g/L, and the product is 100% solids by weight.

- Store between 10 °C and 35 °C (50 °F to 95 °F); do not expose to freezing temperatures.

- Clean tools with ALSAN RS CLEANER or petroleum solvents like mineral spirits or xylene.
